Fantasy-related Craft Projects

I have been making a costume inspired by the Skyrim Nightingale armor with a little Assassin's Creed influence...

Leather Costume

This was my first attempt working with the deer leather I got for Christmas.  It isn't completely finished; I still want to do leather pants/boots, and I may put some sort of armor (pauldrons) over the top as well.  I've also started making a cuirass.  I'm not sure yet if I want it to be more Nightingale style or more of a heavy armor like that of the Ebony cuirass in Oblivion.

(Bethesda Software -awesome- Elder Scrolls games...III is Morrowind, IV is Oblivion, V is Skyrim)

Baby Dragon Skull :)

I love old leather-bound tomes, so I decided to make one myself.  I use it to organize my Eleventh World Saga information...and it's just cool to have.  If you want to see how I made it, check it out HERE.

Though I do most of my writing on the computer, I love making notebooks to jot down ideas and organize my thoughts.  They also make a creative and fun project to do on a rainy afternoon!

The first two are bought notebooks that I just decoupaged.  The one on the far right is actually for keeping my soap recipes, but I made it from scratch.  I was practicing my 'up-cycling' - the cover is made from plastic bags!

I recently got into soap-making and wanted to make sure that I wrote down all the recipes I used so that if I found a batch I really liked I would be able to repeat it.  Because I love making projects for myself, I created a notebook entirely from recycled goods!  The pages are from an old sketchbook that I bound to make into book form (I used this tutorial).  I came across an awesome idea (see this link) of how to use old plastic grocery bags, which I altered to use as the cover for my book.  If you look closely you can see the labels:)  Randomly on the back it says "this side bad" which I found very funny.  I made a strap around it (using the left-over strips of plastic), and then used a magnet from the fridge with a metal bottle cap to secure it.  I used an old catalog to create a 'hidden' compartment in the back because I wanted a way to save samples of each of the soaps as well.  I glued two of those magnets that often come with phone books (and usually get thrown away) inside this compartment.  The metal bottle caps stick to this surface nicely so I just glued my sample to the inside of the cap, and voila!
